How do I manage excess transducer cable?
Proper cable management is essential to protect your gear and maintain clean sonar signals.
Here’s how to do it right:
- Use electrical tape (not overly tight zip ties) to secure the cable along the trolling motor shaft or another stable location.
- Maintain a 25cm (10 in.) service loop near any rotating joints–this prevents strain and allows for smooth movement.
Route the cable carefully to avoid:
- Contact with the propeller
- Pinch points when the motor is stowed or deployed
- Interference from nearby electrical wiring
Clean routing not only protects the cable but also reduces the chane of sonar interference or signal dropouts.
